“I Want You Back” is about two thirty-somethings living in what seems like bliss, who are randomly dumped by their partners and suddenly have to face the possibility that their dream lives of marriage, starting a family, and owning a home in the suburbs are no longer viable. With no potential suitors on the horizon and the lingering fear of dying alone hanging above their heads, Emma (Slate) and Peter (Day) hatch a plan to try and win back their exes, whom they are horrified to discover are already in new relationships.

The film is being directed by Jason Orley (“Big Time Adolescence,” “Pete Davidson: Alive from New York”) and the script was written by Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger, the co-showrunners of “This Is Us.” The duo also wrote the screenplay for “Love, Simon,” and co-created the Hulu series, “Love, Victor.” The creative talent behind the camera includes Production Designer Michael Perry, Director of Photography Brian Burgoyne, Costume Designer Samantha Hawkins, Casting Director John Papsidera, Editor Jonathan Schwartz and Composer Siddhartha Khosla. Peter Safran and John Rickard are producing through The Safran Company with Aptaker and Berger of The Walk-Up Company.
