Will There Ever Be A Santa Clause 4? Here’s What We Know
Disney By Ryan Scott/Nov. 9, 2021 3:51 pm EST
(Welcome to Will There Be a Sequel?, a series where we answer that question and explore what comes next.) Tim Allen gave ’90s kids one of that decade’s most defining takes on Saint Nick with “The Santa Clause” in 1994. The film starred Allen as a regular guy who ends up inheriting the duties of being Santa after the real Santa dies, and it became a huge hit, paving the way for an entire trilogy of holiday flicks. But it’s been 15 years since we’ve seen the former “Home Improvement” star in red with his reindeer. The question is, are we ever going to see “The Santa Clause 4?” It’s a question worth asking in the age of reboots and revivals. We’re here to break it all down.
Here is everything we know about the prospect of “The Santa Clause 4.”
There Are No Current Plans for The Santa Clause 4
Disney
Not to start off with the bad news right up top, but there are currently no plans (that have been revealed anyway) regarding a fourth installment in the franchise. It doesn’t even seem that any of the key players involved have been asked about it, or talked about it, in a theoretical sense, much — if at all. This to say, for the time being, Disney appears to have nothing on the books, but that’s not to say plans won’t change. And there is reason to believe plans might change, given the way things are going in the industry currently.
Disney Has a Good Relationship With Tim Allen
Disney
One of the key reasons it wouldn’t be impossible to imagine another sequel moving forward is that Tim Allen continues to have a good relationship with the studio. Aside from making three “Santa Clause” movies with the Mouse House from 1994 to 2006, Allen has also lent his voice to all four “Toy Story” movies. The actor recently reprised his role as Buzz Lightyear in “Toy Story 4,” which was released in 2019 and went on to make a ton of money.
The fact of the matter is, when Disney and Allen team up, good things happen. That’s not to say that many other factors don’t come into play, but this combo seems to be a way to essentially print money. Not only that, but the working relationship seems to be good. Point is, if Disney came to Allen with a proposal for “The Santa Clause 4,” he’d probably at least hear them out.

Disney+ Might Pave the Way
With that in mind, “The Santa Clause 4” would seem like a good fit for the streaming world. While the trilogy grossed $470 million at the box office, “The Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause” was by far the lowest-grossing of the bunch, taking in $107 million. Putting the movie on Disney+ would eliminate the box office element. The ball is firmly in Disney’s court.
